question, o wise internets

About how long would it take an experienced knitter to knit a pair of plain socks from heavy yarn?

I am the world's slowest knitter, so I can't speak to speed, but there's a limit to how heavy you want to go for socks. Yarn sold as 'sock yarn' is-- well, it's sock weight; google will turn up lots of images next to rulers or pennies for scale.

My grandmother would take about two nights of watching television (so about 5-6 hours total) for one heavy, man's sock.
