Kink Bingo

In a moment of optimism, I signed up for kink_bingo, even though I'm not really a kink writer as most people would define it. But I'd looked through the list of assignable kinks and found a lot that I do enjoy in stories. Plus, I thought it might be a bit of an incentive to start writing again.

Unfortunately, I got unlucky with my assignment. No fewer than five squares are major squicks for me.






(The major squicks, incidentally, are the two "humiliation" squares and "caning," "whipping/flogging," and "spanking/paddling." I'm also not that keen on "prostitution," "bloodplay," and "masters doms slaves & subs." Why couldn't I have gotten "ageplay," "authority figures," "consent play," "mind control/amnesia," "rough sex," "service," "sleepy/unconscious," "tattoos/tattooing," "tentacles," "virginity/celibacy," "worship," or "writing on the body" instead?)

There are things on my card I can write, but getting a bingo would be tough.

Incidentally, even if you're not participating in kink_bingo, I highly recommend kink_wiki, if only to see what fannish image has been chosen to illustrate each kink.

Last year I got enemas and furries. The one story I actually ended up writing for amnesty... was an enema story. Go figure.

*peers at card* You could do the penance-voyeurism row? Or the bites-bondage column? That would avoid your listed squicks.

I am totally jealous that you got what appears to be all the impact-play kinks (although I see how this could be a problem if it's a squick); I'm trying to figure out what to write that avoids tickling, wet & messy, and genital torture on mine. Though, given my track record, those are probably the only squares I'll end up writing.

It's a bit of a cheat, but "bloodplay" could be a vampire story.

("caning" could be about sugar, "whipping" could be foodplay with cream, "paddling" could be sex in a child's paddling pool. I'll do anything to get out of writing kink *g*)

Vampire bloodplay's not cheating! It's right there on kink_wiki! I think "whipping" being cream is cheating though.

Bites to bondage (sounds like volume 3 of the Oxford Kink Dictionary!) is probably what I'll go for if I decide to try for a bingo. Neither "medical kink" nor "suspension" is quite my thing, but they're not actually squicky. Penance to voyeurism has "collars," which is borderline for me, but I could see ways of getting around the stuff I find squicky about collars.

kink_bingo does have some rules about how far you can stretch the definitions. As damned_colonial has already said, vampires are fine (indeed, I think vampires are a big part of the kink), but "whipping" does have to mean one person hitting another with a whip.

I'll do anything to get out of writing kink

I tend to think of myself as emphatically NOT a kink writer, but after looking over the list, I decided it's more that I'm not a BDSM writer. Although even that varies--I'm fine with writing/reading bondage, but I am intensely squicked by hitting, by 24/7 d/s stuff, by humiliation, etc. (I don't mean to imply that those kinks are Wrong, of course, and there's plenty of stuff I enjoy reading/writing about that's squicky to others.)

My problem is that I often find myself laughing when confronted by kink (in stories or real life), which...I'm sure is "doing it wrong."

Attitudes change, though. I used to be totally and (I thought) irrevocably squicked by sexual humiliation, but apparently I've decided that Severus Snape occasionally is turned on by *being* humiliated, and if he is, who am I to quibble about his preferences?

Does 'collars' have to be, you know, leather collars? Could they be other kinds of collars, in a costume-kink kind of way? Priests? Elizabethan ruffs?

Well, someone asked about clerical collars and the mods said that was okay, so it seems to me that costume-kink stuff it probably okay. And now I'm thinking of Turlough's wing-collar shirts . . .
