who's off Bake Off

Yes, I know I've been gone for about a thousand years. I have returned to share an opinion about this week's Great British Bake Off.

Terry should have gone home the first week. He can't bake, but he kept being saved by luck, usually someone else's bad luck. I'm sure he's a lovely person and his situation/sad speech at the end are moving, but wow am I seeing a lot of overreaction on Twitter.

(Okay, to be completely honest, I've disliked him since he somehow survived week 1 and it's only gotten worse as I keep seeing better bakers sent home. Nothing to do with him as a person, but it is a baking competition and the unfairness got on my nerves.) I do really like Karen and was sorry to see her go, but she was the weakest remaining after Terry and it was fair.

I predict Rahul in the final, which is an easy call, plus probably Dan and Kim-Joy. Possibly Manon instead of Kim-Joy, if Kim-Joy has a bad week and Manon practices more. Rahul and Kim-Joy are my faves, even though Kim-Joy is clearly putting in some effort to be that adorable. I like everyone who's left except maybe Jon, because apart from the baking he's tediously Typical Straight Man.

I have not yet watched this week's Bake Off (tomorrow!) but I will nonetheless wave hello!

I've watched it now! Terry was a weak link from the start and he had terrible problems with finishing on time, but they did keep saying his flavours were great, which is hard for us to judge! Rahul is delightfully pessimistic every time he does something amazing and I really want to see him in the final!

Also have not seen this week's Bake Off, but I have been thinking of you every time it's on. Glad to see you posting!

Hello! *hugs* *g* I'm glad you're watching Bake Off this year too.

I thought Terry, after a terrible start, had some reasonable bakes (although he was clearly in the 'contender to leave' half throughout). For sure he had to be one of the leavers this week, nothing else would have made sense. What, were people on twitter saying he should have been kept on because it latterly emerged he was using it as a way to cope with his grief? I mean, regardless of the rights and wrongs of that, the show would end in 10 weeks anyway, so it's not like a long term solution.

I would agree with your final picks. Although Ruby could pull together a solid week and outlast others perhaps...
