Doctor Who 6x04, "The Doctor's Wife"
That was rather lovely. Everything came together--good writing, some gorgeous sets and costumes, strong performances. And somehow it was timeless, a sort of summation of what Doctor Who is, without losing the specificity of Eleven and Amy and Rory. It was emotional in just the right way, too, with an understatement that always works better than melodrama and manipulative tear-jerking.
Ah, it's nice (and rare) to experience 45 minutes of genuinely satisfying television.
ETA: Oh, and the ep settles the hotly debated question of whether Time Lords always regenerate as the same sex. It'll be interesting to see the fannish fallout with this one.
