original (sort of) fiction
Oct. 13th, 2013 06:47 pmYou may remember that some months ago I created a community,
speakable_vice, to post drafts of my original fiction. Well, I've finally got a chapter to post there, but it's not the chapter I thought it would be. I don't feel ready to tackle the Second World War POW novel I want to write, and over these months I've found that my mind kept going back to a project I joked about with
halotolerant: a male/male Regency romance.
So that's what I have a short chapter of. It will be posted only at
speakable_vice, which is member-locked, so you need to become a member of the community if you want to read it. Subscribing to the community is NOT enough because locked posts will be unavailable to you. I will give membership to anyone who asks for it, I just want to keep this project locked in case I finish it and want to try to publish.
What I will be posting is a rough draft. It will have all the flaws of a rough draft, from plot holes to awkward style. Gentle constructive criticism is welcome, but please bear the "rough draft" bit in mind--pointing out poor wording, for example, won't be very helpful. Please also remember that I've never tried to write a novel before and some of what you're going to see is me struggling to work out how to construct one.
So, if you want to read Jane Austen pastiche about a world in which male/male marriage (of a sort) is, in some specific and unromantic circumstances, possible, please join
speakable_vice. Chapter one should be posted within the hour.
