Appropriately enough, when I uploaded the first image, the Captcha read "kiss me." Why yes, pretty boy in a ridiculously camp outfit. Yes, I will.

I'm beginning to suspect that there was a conspiracy of costumers to put Christopher Neame into outrageous clothes. ("Pssst, you'll never guess what we've done to him this time!")

What every would-be space tyrant wears in Doctor Who from this era, pretty much. He might look slightly less incongruous if he hadn't just time-travelled (or something--I haven't actually watched the serial yet) to Cambridge in 1980. Later he does put on a less conspicuous and therefore much less fun outfit.

Blimey, spray-paint the cape brown and it's a Cockroach Cape from the B7 episode with the Avon Bacon Sandwich.

Nah, this cape is flowy, not stiff and carapace-like. But it is an outfit that wouldn't be out of place on B7, even during S4.

(Yeah, even for the '70s, Christopher Neame ends up in the most camp outfits, doesn't he?)

They are quite remarkable. I've seen a fair amount of 1970s and early 1980s genre television, so I'm seen a lot of, er, memorable costumes, but Neame's still stand out. I suspect that costumers took one look at him and thought: "It's a beautiful blond young man, I can have FUN!"
