Day 01 - Your Favorite Quote
It's hard to choose among dozens of favorite moments. But a lot of them are context-dependent, or in some cases performance-dependent. So I'm venturing out into supplementary canon and selecting a quotation from the Eighth Doctor Adventures novel The Scarlet Empress, by Paul Magrs:
The Doctor was an inveterate underliner, a scribbler in margins, a very unpassive reader. Some of his oldest, most precious volumes in the TARDIS library were swamped by his commentaries from successive readings over the years. All of the Doctors had added their contributions--picking fights with the original author, then with each other as their various, hotly held opinions clashed and altered. To the Doctor his own books were the place his previous selves met in a busy, textual polyphony. All his books were dense palimpsests of gripes. This hits a lot of my buttons. Libraries! Marginalia! Multiple selves! The word "palimpsest"! I love this quotation so much that I took my journal title from it, and the full quotation is also in my journal sidebar.
