This, believe it or not, is a ficlet project story. The last ficlet requestor,
brewsternorth, pooled hir request with
ansketil_rose and
vilakins to ask for a longer Tintin story. Two months later . . . well, it's certainly longer than a ficlet.
Title: One Small Step
Fandom: Tintin
Pairing: Tintin/Haddock
Rating: Teen
Warnings: I've followed Hergé's statement that Tintin is about 17 in the later comics. This makes him underage by some laws (including Belgian law at the time), but there's no sex in this story. Also, it's set in the early 1950s and some of the attitudes reflect that.
Word count: 9473
Summary: Going to the moon is the simple part.
Notes: This is set during Objectif: Lune and On a marché sur la Lune (aka Destination: Moon and Explorers on the Moon) and may not make much sense if you're not familiar with those albums. I've used the French forms of names and my own versions of Haddock's French oaths because I prefer them to the ones in the English translations. The medical stuff (hi,
halotolerant!) is grossly inaccurate, I'm sure; I followed canon on that even when it seemed ridiculous, and for the rest just made stuff up. Finally, many thanks to
ansketil_rose for a thoughtful and helpful beta.
