Merry Christmas to all who are celebrating!

I was a lucky boy this year and got TWO stories for Yuletide:

So go on and do not stop (4097 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Biggles Series - W. E. Johns
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Biggles/Algy Lacey
Characters: James "Biggles" Bigglesworth, Algy Lacey, Mahoney (Biggles), Major Mullen, Henry "The Professor" Watkins, "Mac" Maclaren
Additional Tags: wwi
Summary: During the events of the short story 'The Great Arena' from Biggles of the Camel Squadron, the members of 266 Squadron spend an evening trying to trick German intelligence into thinking they are "as green as grass and over in France for the first time" before acting as bait to even the odds and put a stop the slaughter of new pilots by the Von Doering circus. In the original story the events of that evening were barely touched upon, so here is what might have happened.

(Algy is sweetly protective and aware of Biggles in this story, which hints at the trauma and stress of war.)

I've Been to a Marvellous Party (3291 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Charioteer - Mary Renault, The Wooden Horse Series - Eric Williams, Wings (TV 1977), Colditz (1972), Raffles - E. W. Hornung
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Nigel Wilde/Captain Triggers
Characters: Captain Triggers, Nigel Wilde, Bim Taylor, Dick Player, A. J. Raffles, Bunny Manders
Additional Tags: Multiple Crossovers, World War I, World War II, 1930s, Queer Culture, Queer History, Airplanes, Backstory, First Meetings, Age Difference
Summary: And so now, at the age of thirty-one, a good ten years older than most of the debutantes to the world he had entered, Nigel was exploring what London had to offer and, thus far, had been really only an observer, and of course co-conspirator in the endless labyrinthine intrigues of Bim’s romantic affairs.

New Year's Eve 1938. A small, discreet gathering in London.

(In which Bim Taylor throws a party and ALL THE FANDOMS turn up. I don't think you need to be familiar with ALL THE FANDOMS to enjoy it, though. It holds up well without a lot of canon knowledge, and is delightful.)

Every year it seems like there are fewer Yuletide fandoms I know. Anyway, have some recs. These are in addition to the stories written for me, which I mentioned earlier.

20th Century CE RPF

A Super Mouse in Time (1809 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: 20th Century CE RPF
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Nikita Khrushchev, Walt Disney
Additional Tags: Yuletide Treat, Disneyland, Cold War Era
Summary:

In 1959, Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev visited America. He saw its president, its Senate, its Hollywood stars, its housing projects. Per his security team’s instructions, he did not, the media reported, see Disneyland.

But you can’t believe everything you read.

I really like the way the serious and the kitschy interconnect in this story, and it's charmingly written.

The Charioteer

The science and practice of surgery (1328 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Charioteer - Mary Renault
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Alec Deacon/Sandy Reid
Characters: Alec Deacon, Sandy Reid
Additional Tags: Post-Canon, Codependency
Summary: Alec and Sandy in 1941.

This understatedly heartbreaking look at Alec and Sandy's relationship rings painfully true.

Liberty (1239 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Charioteer - Mary Renault
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Aunt Olive (The Charioteer), Ralph Lanyon
Additional Tags: London
Summary: Of Aunt Olive and her pilgrimages to London.

I almost back-buttoned when I saw this was written in first person, but I'm glad I didn't. It's a gorgeously detailed, atmospheric look at Aunt Olive's life and personality, which are both so much more complicated than Laurie knows.

Eldritch, betentacled Bridstow (1408 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Charioteer - Mary Renault
Rating: Mature
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Ralph Lanyon/Laurie Odell, Bunny/Ralph Lanyon, Alec Deacon/Sandy Reid, Alec Deacon & Ralph Lanyon
Characters: Ralph Lanyon, Laurie Odell, Alec Deacon, Bunny (The Charioteer), Sandy Reid
Additional Tags: Angst, AU - Tentacles, Body Horror, Body Modification, Eventual Fluff, Medical Experimentation, Self Harm, Thinly Veiled Allegory, Tentacles, World War II
Summary: The Charioteer. Now with added tentacles.

Yes, this is The Charioteer plus tentacles. No, it's not crack. It's lovely and moving and also, there are tentacles. Just trust me and read it.

The Dispossessed/The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula Le Guin

The Color of Shadow (5751 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: The Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin, Hainish Cycle - Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed - Ursula K. Le Guin
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Ong Tot Oppong, OFC
Additional Tags: shifgrethor, First Contact, Original anarcho-syndicalist character, Original Annaresti character, Original lesbian character, why yes those three are all the same OC
Summary: Two first investigators come to Gethen. And bring and their baggage.

This very LeGuin-like story subtly explores both the pain and the possibilities of living in a new culture.
kindkit: Picture of the TARDIS, captioned "This funny little box that carries me away . . ." (Doctor Who--TARDIS)
13 minutes into "The Time of the Doctor," and I feel compelled to mention non-plotty spoilers )
