I've been thinking about his mentioning in 2x05 that while in the orphanage he used to cut himself. Has he ever actually stopped self-harming, I wonder, or did he just figure out how to get other people, or demons, to do it for him? Besides the physical injuries he always gets during exorcisms, he also seems to have a weird enthusiasm about getting into fights. It could be about letting loose some of his anger, but I wonder if the typical self-harm motivation is also there: physical pain to drown out emotional pain.
