I watched the finale of DS9 last night.

Mostly I thought it was pretty damn great. Sad in a lot of ways, but great. *hugs Odo* *hugs Kira* *hugs all the characters except Vic Fontaine*

The resolution of the Dukat & pah wraiths & Kai Winn & Sisko's destiny business was rather hasty considering how much time went into setting it up, but as I never found that plot especially interesting, I wasn't too sorry. I found the Dominion & Cardassia stuff much more compelling. And the show made the right choice in not bringing Sisko back at the end, but concluding with Jake looking out at the stars and hoping.

I seem to be too tired to say anything serious and coherent (I've composed and deleted several paragraphs) but I do want to mention that although flashback montages are among my least favorite television devices, I can see how the montage scene was probably very moving for people who'd been watching the show over seven seasons. Also, it grouped the Bashir-O'Brien relationship in with romantic pairings (to the tune of "The Way You Look Tonight"), which was enough to make me happy. (Poor Julian, losing both of his boyfriends! I'm afraid I don't find his romance with Ezri the slightest bit believable; they'll have broken up in a month or two. I choose to believe Julian will then leave DS9 to rejoin one or the other of his boyfriends--probably Garak, since O'Brien has other commitments.)

Now that I need fear no spoilers, rec me things, please? Fanfic, vids, your favorite DS9 pro novels, whatever.

In fanfic, what I'm looking for is well-written stories that stay true to the characters. And DS9 is one of those rare fandoms where I'd be happy to read almost any genre of story about almost any character. I'm not especially looking for plot-heavy gen that doesn't do much character development, or porny/PWP stories except m/m, but anything else would be great.

Thanks!

Robinson claims he thought of Garak as bi/omnisexual (which is why he seemed so flirty at the beginning with Julian), but as it is so often the case, the producers chickened. Personally, I think you could tell from the way he interacted with Ziyal... it all a bit forced, like you'd expect from an actor who thinks his character really has chemistry with someone else.
