Yeah, he's hardly the first teenaged boy in the history of the world to say breathtakingly dumbass things about girls/women, by a long shot--I tend to agree with the theory that people dislike him so much because he's so realistically a kid of that age. With all the attendant faults and flaws and arrogance.

I think DW fandom's by far the worst about this of any fandom I've ever been in--the old school companions in particular, I was shocked at how different the reality of them was from what I'd been told and quickly figured out I should never take anyone's "Avoid him/her, s/he's crap!" word on any of them.
