I'm partway through Destination: Moon right now, and I'm all wibbly over Captain Haddock insisting that he'll stay at the wounded Tintin's bedside. I especially love that there's no attempted practical justification about guarding him or whatever; he just says he wants to stay with Tintin. And then the thing with the broken chair makes me wonder whether he stayed in the only comfortable place left: the bed.

Earlier, in The Seven Crystal Balls, I was rather taken with the Captain's new habit of calling Tintin "my dear," not to mention his hideous country-squire coat and his monocle. *pets him* And he was so heartbroken in Prisoners of the Sun when he thought Tintin had died. I loved him holding the crying little boy and obviously on the verge of tears himself.

I didn't read most of Land of Black Gold, since Haddock wasn't in most of it, but that ending looked to me like they almost broke up. Oh noes! Luckily they took a nice holiday and not only patched things up, but decided to live together.

These are really absurdly slashy and delightful.

(Okay, the more-than-occasional racism is not so delightful. I shall focus on the happy slash instead.)
