doesn't anybody repeat the "ritual sacrifice . . . with pie" joke anymore?

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating.

I'm lucky enough to have the day off work (my work is open today, and I told the boss when I was inteviewed that I could work Thanksgiving, but then I didn't get scheduled). I'm very glad of this, because yesterday I worked 4 pm to midnight and there were a zillion customers and I'm tired.

Later today my housemate (who did have to work--different workplace, but also open Thanksgiving) and I will be going over to have Thanksgiving dinner with some of zir friends. I got assigned to do vegetables, so I'm bringing brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts, and a gratin of sweet potatoes with cream and chipotle chiles.

And then tomorrow I get my first experience of Black Friday in the glamorous world of retail.
