what went wrong with the AO3's latest deploy

If, like me, you've been looking at the latest AO3 deploy and saying "What? How did this even happen?," I recommend reading Github, transparency, and the OTW archive project by skud. skud, who is an experienced professional software developer, clearly explains, based on publicly available documentation, how coding projects are being managed by the OTW (not very well) and how that affects the quality of the releases. The comments are also well worth a look; it saddens me to see how many experienced coders who wanted to help out have been put off by the OTW's lack of transparency and its hierarchical, bureaucratic way of dealing with volunteers. Or worse yet, have simply had their offers ignored.

Tintin fanart

I happened across some rather nice gen pictures by Baru here and here. They also have a lovely page of shippy but G-rated doodles (well, one's about a PG-13) here on Y-Gallery, which you won't be able to see unless you're logged in.

I'd quite like to search Tumblr for more fanart, but I have no idea if it's even possible to search Tumblr. There doesn't seem to be any way to navigate the thing. Or maybe you can only navigate if you have an account?

ETA: Okay, I seem to have managed to search for all Tumblr posts tagged "Tintin." Most of them are reactions to the film, of course.

completely predictable complaint
