Not as batshit as last week's episode, though still a bit ridiculous. I'm bothered that the villain turned out to be the shop steward rather than one of the posh people, especially since he had no motive other than, you know, being a rapist. It felt like a class stereotype to me--posh people have reasons to commit crimes, while working-class people are just driven by their animal lusts.

Speaking of stereotypes, apparently it's a law of nature that women end up working as someone's personal assistant. Even women with history degrees from Oxford. God knows I'm aware that people with good educations can end up in crappy jobs, but we're talking about Oxford, and the mid-1960s when degrees meant more than they do now. Vexin, I'm afraid, read to me as an excuse to shoehorn in some more Morse backstory and some heterosexuality. At least Estella got to run the company.

Gratuitous heterosexuality was gratuitous. I did like that Morse's consolation prize was a dinner date with Thursday. (Why, one wonders, isn't Thursday going home for his dinner? I see no explanation except that he really wants to spend his Saturday evening with Morse instead.)
