Yay, Nadiya! She did spectacularly well on every single challenge. And Mary Berry actually got teary-eyed on camera talking about how much Nadiya has learned and grown in confidence during the Bake Off.
The final was everything I could have hoped for. Everybody did well and has reason to be proud, and at the same time Nadiya clearly deserved her win, so there's no opening for controversy or hard feelings. *happysigh*
And how cute is it that Nadiya and Tamal are friends now and she's invited him round for dinner with her family?
I still have a soft spot for Ian, so I was very glad that his showstopper went so well. And I note with delight that Mel called him "feminine" on camera and his response was a blush of pleasure. It makes me happy to see men who don't give a fuck about conventional masculinity.
I'm already looking forward to next year. And, in the more immediate term, the masterclasses! It's nice that this more educational aspect exists too and not just the contest.
