I live at roughly 36 degrees north latitude. That's farther south than the southernmost point of Spain; the 36th parallel crosses Algeria, Tunisia, and Pakistan, among other places.*

Today is the 28th of April.

It is snowing.



*Okay, it also crosses Tibet, which although twice as elevated as where I live, is probably more comparable. I bet it's snowing there, too.

It's not that I like hot weather. In fact I hate it. But I don't like snow either and felt the need to complain.

Snow is so rare for me, I love it. And still did even when I lived in London and Frankfurt. It's rain that hacks me off.

I don't mind snow too much in its proper season, though I do wish the city where I live (and where we do regularly get snow in the winter) was prepared to deal with snow. As it is, even the main roads are often not well plowed, and it can be dangerous.

I'm not sure how cities here which get occasional snow deal with it. Probably with horror. :-)

It was a great day, hot and sunny (like the summer we missed) and we had an excellent meal out at an Argentine/Italian restaurant. I'd go back just for their potato gnocchi in truffle oil with dukkah and roasted pumpkin, but they'll probably change their menu by the time I get back. I also had empanadas and sole with chili and garlic, and espresso mousse to finish - I like a dessert when I go out as I rarely have them.

Snow is awful to deal with. Where I am the weather was going back and forth between 70°F and snow for a bunch of March, but now seems to have settled on an unseasonable amount of rain.

I try not to mind snow too much, because we always need the water, but I get fed up with the inconvenience of it.

Yeah, like it’s kinda pretty up until I remember I need to shovel/ drive/ generally be outside in it.

Elevation makes things so strange! (Most of Australia is at sea level, and none of it is as high up as you live). I hope the snow and impending heat average out and give you a nice, mild summer.

A mild summer would be nice. The good thing about high elevation and dry air is that even if it's hot as hell during the day, the nights are always cool. Houses/apartments, unfortunately, don't cool off as efficiently as the air does, unless you have very good ventilation (which I don't). But still, it's not like when I lived in Washington DC, where the summer nights were almost as hot as the days. I imagine you're familiar with that!

Yikes. I live around 40 deg. N, and it was almost 80. The weather is very odd.

It is. Where I live the weather tends to be changeable because of the high elevation (7000 feet/2100 meters), but I'm always surprised by it nevertheless.

I'm glad it hasn't hit 80 degrees here yet! Even snow is preferable.
