I did like Tim McInnerny as the abovementioned gay man, and I think it might have been a better movie from his point of view.

They sang "The Sailor's Arms," and to my delight, rephrased the transphobic last line to be better. It's still a song that can deservedly be termed problematic, but I kind of love it anyway and I was glad to see it improved.
It is always really nice when artists do that. I have not read either version, but I was very happy to learn recently that Diane Duane rewrote one of her Young Wizards novels entirely when the original version turned out to be hugely (and hurtfully) wrong about autism; the second version is now well-regarded by autistic readers.
