And also, to be quite honest, this is the last Royal Wedding at this scale there will be for a very long time (just from the ages of those in line to the throne, and even this was much smaller than Will and Kate). To have decided to budget strongly at this particular juncture would have appeared to be a comment on Megan, whether or not it was, and that would scarcely have been a good thing (and I'm sure the same people would have been ready to be outraged about that).
