Could someone who knows the show Lewis well tell me whether there's an episode where the hit and run driver who killed Val Lewis is caught, and Hathaway has to talk Lewis down from an understandably intense emotional reaction? Or am I actually remembering a fanfic?

Ah, thanks for linking to the specific episode. A while back I rewatched part of the series. I particularly wanted to see that episode again, but I misremembered it as happening earlier, and I didn't get that far into my rewatch (because by the point when this episode happens, the show had started to do a number of things I didn't care for). But now I can go directly to it and skip some of the episodes that seem designed to prove how very very heterosexual Hathaway is!
