a fannish thing

kindkitI still think of myself as fannish, although it's been a long time since I've written fanfic, and I don't read fanfic very often anymore either; the reasons for that are complicated and I don't feel up to talking about it now. But I still enjoy a good old-fashioned fannish shipping meme. (Stolen from flo_nelja.)
I'm supposed to ask people to give me a number and a fandom, but I'd rather just answer the questions I feel like answering, about the fandoms I want to talk about (fair warning: this will mostly be Rusty Quill stuff, and there may be spoilers for all aired episodes of The Magnus Archives, Rusty Quill Gaming, and potentially even Stellar Firma).
I'll answer these a few at a time, as I get around to it.

1) First ship you remember
Literally the first ship I remember is the male main character and the other male main character from the 1970s TV show Energency. One was called Roy, I think? I was very young, and they sort of filled the role of "imaginary friend"--I once tried to get my mother to set plates for them at the dinner table--but it was also hugely important to me that they were each other's best friends. I shipped them, in my very very young way.
2) Newest ship
I supposed Zolf and Oscar from Rusty Quill Gaming. I wasn't super into it until it (for some not fully determined value of the word "ship") became canon, but I've really enjoyed listening to the characters, and the players, navigate some complex emotional territory.
3) Favourite ship ever
What a question. But if I had to pick one, I think it would be Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr in X-Men movieverse (primarily the first trilogy, but also the prequels, though I think the two trilogies take place in at least two different universes). Big love, big tragedy, with bonus politics and ethics and aging and mortality. It has all the good stuff!
