Some sentences from the WIP. Yes, still the same WIP. I think it's just going to keep growing until it eats the known universe.

After the fancy party, Ed is having some Feelings. And also, I answer the musical question "Where the hell is Ed sleeping on the Revenge anyway?"

So here Ed was again in the little cabin Stede had designed for one of his kids. It was pretty nice. It had wallpaper and paintings of animals and an actual hanging cot that proved Stede knew how beds on ships were supposed to work but just didn't care. Nobody stayed in here, normally. Did Stede still hope that someday his kids (and his wife, don't forget his wife) would come and sail with him?

He hadn't made a cabin for his wife. She'd been meant to share his bed with him.

I laughed at this line, but oof, Ed's worry in the rest of it hits appropriately hard.

It's definitely one of those elements I'm not quite sure how to orient myself around in canon - the "is this here because the set is more theatre than film" or "is this Stede being Stede." And the latter is itself hard to define sometimes, because there are things that are positioned as Stede being Stede that would in fact have been the norm on a pirate ship. Which is all to say, I'm glad the bed's there because I do in fact want to see Ed and Stede in it in future, but there's so much of that cabin that doesn't make sense.

(Good thing they'll have a chance to rebuild and redecorate it together.)
