Sanctuary, early S3

A few quick reactions; I've only seen through 3x04, "Trail of Blood," so please don't spoil me for anything later.

So, in S3 the Sanctuary writers discover arcs! Yay! I'm deeply curious about all the weirdness and loose ends: the freaky white-leotard-wearing memory-extraction people, the holographic mystery city, the fake!priest. I'm a little bit nervous that the show seems to be going a mystical route, though.

I kind of like Kate now, which I didn't think could happen. But she got a lot of growth in the Kali episodes, and she was absolutely awesome in "Bank Job." Her rapport with the Big Guy in "Trail of Blood" was nice too. And she and Helen did get very unexpectedly slashy in "Bank Job."

Speaking of the Big Guy, seeing him with his reading glasses on nearly killed me from adorableness-overdose. His reading material could stand improvement, though. As for the bits of backstory we got in "Trail of Blood," they intrigued me, but I'd just as soon there isn't too much more. I like the fact that there are a lot of gaps in the show, because they leave room for fanfic.

Magneto!Tesla is as awesome as vampire!Tesla, and it was fun seeing Henry (reluctantly) fanboy him. So, okay, there is a reason some people ship them. (Henry's heart, I am convinced, belongs entirely to the Big Guy, but I'm sure Tesla is more than willing--and able--to borrow the rest of him for a bit of fun.)

I have a few serious thoughts, but I'm too sleepy to bother with them right now. This can be the post of silly squee.

I really liked the Kate and Ravi rapport in the Kali episodes - and I know you're not a bit fan of Will, but the place where he kind of won me over was with the incredibly dorky dancing. He totally owned his own dorkitude in that scene.

S2 is all about the individuals settling into an ensemble, isn't it? And you're right about the story arcs in S3. S3 is *awesome*, I'm glad you made it this far.

Magneto!Tesla is a crack-up. I really want someone to write him seeking out depowered X-Men Magneto to find out how to use these great new powers. And to gloat about being Tesla who invented radio.

Eee, the holographic city! It's so cracky. The set designers are smoking the good stuff. It's so pretty.

I wanted Kate and Ravi to get together, although there wasn't really room for it within the storytelling of the episode. And oh god, Will's dancing. From the first mention of dancing for Kali I was thinking "surely they're not really . . .?" and then "oh, yeah, they're really." (And it's not that I dislike Will, I just think he's a limited kind of character. I think the show is using him more effectively now that the writers have recognized that and stopped trying to present him--most of the time--as The Hero.)

I'm surprised the show hasn't made a Magneto reference about Tesla, considering how many other geeky references they fit in. But on the other hand, that leaves room for the kind of crossover you mention.
