I finally surrendered to temptation and made this chocolate chocolate-chip banana bread. It is delicious.

I used about 3/4 of a stick of butter instead of the full stick the recipe calls for, reduced-fat yogurt instead of sour cream, and about 3/4 cup of chocolate chips instead of 1 cup. Trust me, the result was still plenty rich. (And I like moist rich cakes.) Next time I might cut the butter even more. Oh, I also used a little extra cocoa powder; the "bread" still tastes of bananas as well as chocolate so I don't think I went too far.

Besides being delicious, it's also very easy. I'm not much of a baker and I didn't have any problems with it.

It sounds so good! Bananas are an embargoed substance in our house - when they're ripe, the smell makes lilacsigil ill. I don't miss them so much. Except, banana bread! With nice mushy ripe strong-flavoured bananas!

Damn, I want some! With Nutella. Mmmm.

Heh, I started making elaborate plans for how you could acquire overripe bananas for the recipe (keep them at a neighbor's house! store them in the shed!). But the finished product does smell of bananas a bit, so it probably would not be lilacsigil-friendly.

Thanks for the recipe! I saved it for later. I'm not much of a baker or a cook but sometimes one gets these urges.

This is a really easy recipe, so it's good for satisfying those domestic urges without ridiculous amounts of work.
