Last night I was browsing through YouTube for clips of my new obsession, Ryan "How are you so hot? No, really, how? Because you're not my usual type and yet you're hotter than nuclear fusion" Robbins.

I found this rather interesting short film, "The Masculine Mystique," made by Mitch and Murray Films and starring Robbins. Some of it may make you roll your eyes (straight men talking about Woman the Mystery is never good), but what the film does well, I think, is explore the way (straight) male friendship is both structured by homosocial misogyny (women are strange and fickle, so who can men really trust but other men?) and sharply restricted by homophobia.

Also, Ryan Robbins is sweaty and shows off his beautifully developed arms.

Yesterday I made posole for the first time. There are a couple of things I'll do differently the next time I make it, but it was still really tasty and I thought I'd share my "recipe," which is adapted from an actual recipe in Diana Kennedy's The Cuisines of Mexico. Some day I'd love to make Kennedy's proper version, but one of its main ingredients is half a pig's head, an item not easily obtained.

Where is everybody? The intarwebs seem especially dead today. Or am I just boring and no one wants to talk to me? *mopes*

All right, let's see if I can lure folks out. The first five commenters can request a drabble. Name a fandom, a character or pairing (gen or m/m slash only, please), and give me a brief prompt.

There are a few fandoms I'm going to place "off limits" for requests just because I don't have much to say about them right now: Buffy, due South, Harry Potter, Blake's 7, Dalziel and Pascoe, and Torchwood. Also, I may ask you to change your prompt if it stumps me.

Here are the first three drabbles from the "request a drabble" thing I posted earlier. (There's still room for one more request, by the way!)
