I've just become an OTW member for the first time . . . ever? I was a volunteer for a while years back, and I can't recall if that conferred membership or not.

I want to vote in the upcoming OTW elections. I support OTW/AO3; I think they do hugely important work. I also think they need to deal with their ongoing mismanagement, abusive treatment of volunteers, and failure to take steps against the racist harassment of BIPOC fans.

Thanks! I'm not wildly impressed with the slate of candidates, but on the other hand I don't know what the solution should be, so . . .

Thanks for the reminder, I just paid up, too. I have been a member before but not for the last few years after resigning from volunteering (I was not one of the people affected by the current abuses but it made me very glad I wasn't still there). A lot of what's going on is normal stuff that happens in volunteer organisations as they get big and need to professionalise, but a lot more to do with the recent exposure of how they dealt with CSAM material is HOLY SHIT NO.

*nods* And it's probably an issue they should have foreseen. AO3's policy of allowing fiction that includes sex scenes with underage fictional characters (a policy I 100% support) does unfortunately make it likely that people will try to sneak in actual CSAM.
