As far as I know, tonight's results won't yet include mail-in ballots. There were a lot of those this year, in states that allowed them. And mail-in voters tend to vote heavily Democratic. So if they're counted, it could make a difference.

I say if because Trump will, of course, try to prevent them from being counted.



None of this affects the despair I feel that half my fellow citizens have looked back at Trump's presidency and said, "Yeah, I'll have more of that."

It looks like not just a Trump victory, but Republican control of the House and the Senate. I hope the projections are wrong, but I'm terrified.
