Warehouse 13 has just introduced a gay character into its main cast. This is pretty rare for a genre show in the US, where if there are queer characters at all they're usually far in the background. Plus, the show handled it well--the character's gayness wasn't made a big deal of, much less the subject of a Very Special Episode. And he's a good character, not in any way a stereotype, whom I already liked.
Now, let's just hope he's not killed off or otherwise gotten rid of. *fingers crossed*

Date: 2011-07-19 10:49 am (UTC)I was spoiled that the new character was gay, but I was really happy with the way it was brought into the story. No big deal, and it just passed by, and there it is. I have no idea if he's a permanent addition to the cast - he's still listed as 'guest star' in the credits. But I hope so, because he hits my competency kink hard.

Date: 2011-07-19 03:34 pm (UTC)I was a little put off by Claudia's "I should have a gay friend, because I'm fabulous" thing--it's such a stereotype, and Claudia's not girly in a way that fits it, and one of the great things about Steve is that he's not fabulous in that Will & Grace way either. So hopefully that was just Claudia feeling uncomfortable about having assumed a mutual attraction.
